Do you have a family tradition, that you did as a child or have you started your own with your little family? Our boom buddies have shared their Christmas / Festive traditions they have, maybe they will inspire you to start one similar?

The Carrington-Coope Family have a few family traditions that this year they are introducing Cole too. on Christmas Eve Eve they have a cheese board, then on Christmas Eve they have their matching pj's on and enjoy a domino's whilst watching a variety of Christmas films - usually the top one being the Santa Clause.

The Collins Crew enjoy watching The polar express on Christmas Eve with a fuddle & cheese board. Then on Christmas morning watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang whilst having breakfast (pan au chocolate & orange juice) & unwrapping presents. They have done this since moving in together, and always in matching PJ's too!

The Watson Pick Family tradition starts on December 1st when they receive their December boxes, with advent calendars, a book, a Christmas teddy, chocolates, cosy socks & some Christmassy crafts each. They find it more worth while on the first of the month rather than a Christmas eve box when they get all their presents the next day and forgetting about everything in it!

The Rudd Family always go to a panto at Derby Velodrome with grandparents on the last weekend before Christmas and they always make sure to wear their Christmas jumpers!

ree

The Korneluk family always watch a muppets Christmas carol on Christmas eve! They do a big family buffet on the evening of Christmas eve. Every year on the 1st of December they put on their Christmas pj's put on some Christmas music and put the tree up with mince pies and hot chocolate! (or a cheeky baileys for the grown ups)

The Adamsons love to get creative and amke homemade decorations with Lucy to chart how big she is getting - they also gift these to family too! Some they have done over the years is a snowman scarf - the same length as Lucy, handprints, footprints & photos in snow globes.

The Collis/Murray Family on the run up to Christmas they enjoy taking an early evening walk and counting how many Christmas lights they can spot in the houses they walk past. They normally do this a few times on the run up as more and more lights start to appear.

The Lee Family tradition - Every year, we paint festive scenes on my grandma's windows using a mix of poster paint, a blob of washing up liquid & a splash of PVA glue. Each grandchild has a window to design and bring to life. It's a tradition we still keep alive today with the next generation - a heartwarming way to spend time together as an extended family whilst creating unique masterpieces (there are definitely no aspiring artists in our family...)

The Tiddlekicks family tradition is every year they go to McDonalds with parents, grandparents, siblings and the kiddies.

ree

The Marriott/Fallon family tradition involves them all having a family movie night at Hannah's parents and watching the polar express. Hannah watched it every year with her younger brothers growing up & it's now her children's favourite Christmas film too!

The Hardy Family are a blended family, but they always make time for Christmas traditions, from going on a walk to look at the Christmas advent windows around their estate, then watching a film and doing their Christmas Eve boxes on the day that falls as Christmas eve for them! (When they have the oldest, Summer) Then Boxing Day, they have a second Christmas Day when Summer is back, so have a special cooked breakfast and make pancakes. Then usually go for a walk somewhere with a Christmas Trail.

ree

The P Family tradition, when they was kids they used to go to the panto around Christmas time. They have now taken their toddler on some theatre trips and look forward to continuing the tradition as she gets older.

ree

The Shawver Family tradition is they always used to do Santa/mum & dad presents in the morning and then save presents from other family until the evening to help break things up and give them something to look forward too. Now they have children they are implementing this and also have a second Christmas on boxing day with parents where they do gifts & a buffet / leftover feast.

ree

The Watkiss family tradition is on Christmas Eve they enjoy a takeaway whilst watching a Christmas film. They also go for a family walk near Christmas to look at everyone's lights/decorations. This year they will be starting a December 1st box, to bring out a Christmas book (same one each year) and a jumper to wear throughout the month. When Elle was a child she would go to and watch the pantomime, so she can't wait to start that tradition with Lily once she is old enough.

We love being with our family at Christmas, our children have 4 sets of grandparents so it’s busy but super special. We have a family get together with Joshs Dad, Partner, siblings, step siblings and all of their children the weekend before Christmas. We have food, swap presents and our children get to play with all of their cousins.

We have a special visit from Santa (PDP Storybook characters).Visiting Santa can be too overwhelming for our neurodiverse children so having him come to our home is amazing and our son says that it’s ‘the real Santa’.

We then have what we call a ‘bonus Christmas Day’ with my Dad, step mum and my grandma in Leicester where I’m from. This is always magical and is literally an extra Christmas Day, complete with Christmas dinner and presents. The children love this and this December my Grandma is turning 90, which I think will make it even more special. We have Josh’s Mum and partner over for breakfast on Christmas Day then spend the rest of the day just the 5 of us. We play games, open presents and watch Christmas films and of course another Christmas dinner. Then on Boxing Day it’s back to Leicester to see my Mum and her husband for even more present opening and food.
