On a rainy day you can bring the fun of a muddy puddle into your home with this simple activity. For the example I used a mix of chalk and pencil crayons to add colour, but you can use anything you have on hand such as pens, wax crayons or paint. The activity can also be adapted to the age of your children. Little ones may enjoy gluing real leaves to their puddles. You could also make a pair of wellies instead of leaves.
What you’ll need:
Glue
Chalk & Pencil Crayons
Leaves (optional)
Two pieces of paper
A Pencil
Scissors
Method
1. This first step is optional, to go on a walk and gather some leaves.
2. Next, on one piece of paper draw some leaves (if you have gathered some leaves you can try drawing their shapes) and colour them in, followed by cutting them out.
3. The following task is colouring in your second piece of paper to look like a puddle. You can use a mix of straight lines and circle lines. The circle lines look like ripples in the water.
4. Now crumple up your leaves to make them look a little 3D (remembering to open the crumpled leaves after).
5. Finally glue your leaves to the paper making sure to let some parts stick out instead of gluing them completely flat. If you drew ripples the leaves look great stuck in the middle.
